This year’s 31st French Library Bastille Day celebration promises to be a street party of global proportions with an astounding four hours of continuous music by three of the French-speaking world’s biggest groups. Back Bay’s beautiful Marlborough Street will be blocked off between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets to accommodate 3,000 revelers, dancing in the streets. French food and drinks will be available for sale from area restaurants, making this the only street party of its kind in Boston. The French Library Bastille Day street dance will be a party in true French style, with live performances by some of the world’s hottest Francophone performers, dancing and celebrating freedom, cultural diversity, and the friendship between nations. Featuring live performances by Francophone stars: AMADOU & MARIAM The celebrated Malian couple, nominated for a Grammy in 2005! DABY TOURÉ The pop fusion star from Mauritania, back for his second performance at Bastille Day! DAARA J The popular Sénégalese hip hop trio! Music programmed by World Music.
