Event Description

The 35th French Cultural Center Bastille Day celebration returns to Marlborough Street for what promises to be the street party of the summer! This year’s line-up, programmed by World Music/CRASHarts, Inc., features two incredible francophone acts:

Starting at 7:00 pm the high energy Tabou Combo, the “Ambassadors of Konpa”, Haiti’s national dance music, followed at 8:45 pm by Caravan Palace and their irresistible gypsy jazz electro-swing rhythms.

Back Bay's beautiful Marlborough Street will be blocked off between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets to accommodate 2,000 revelers, dancing in the street.

Delicious French food and drinks, including beer & wine will be available for sale from Beehive, Bistro du Midi, Brasserie JO, Mantra, Petit Robert Bistro, Sandrine’s, Sel de la Terre, the Waffle CabinPerrier and Stella Artois.

The French Cultural Center Bastille Day will be a party in true French style with live music and dancing in celebration of freedom, community, cultural diversity, and the friendship between nations.

About Caravan Palace

Caravan Palace photo credit: Myqua

With their “Zazou” look (inspired by Parisian paleo-punks from the 1940s), and their craze for swing, gypsy-style jazz and electro, Caravan Palace offers an improbable futuristic and melodious Charleston fit for the dance floor. Their completely fresh take on classic manouche jazz has left the veterans of the scene speechless, and their sweet’n’saucy lyrics and frenzied scat have won over a growing horde of fans beyond the frontiers.
